Went to the HHH show in Salt Lake last night with Mononeca. I had no idea what to expect, but was genuinely impressed.
I hadn't heard any support on KRCL prior to the show, so unsurprisingly the all ages side of the house showed up but there were few adults, and turnout overall was slim. Steve and group put in a workmanlike effort nonetheless... I'm sure they've got a little extra in the tank that they can tap into during a really big show, but I never felt like they were holding anything back. Steve's an interesting showman, the band was together, and their material was both progressive and "swung" for lack of a better word.
Walked away with a satisfied feeling that I only get from top notch shows, and that's saying something after having gone to see Built to Spill the night before. I also bought a copy of Future Breeds on vinyl.
Thanks Ryan for getting us in, and looking forward to putting the LP on my turntable for a spin to hear the results of your work in the studio.
